Opening Statement
May it please the court. My name is Lamisa Haque. My co-counselor is Jae Park. The following issue is before this court today: Mao Ze-dong has willfully oppressed and denied the people of China basic human rights. We will argue that Mao Ze-dong is innocent of this charge. Today you will hear from many devoted people who tried to change China by listening to Mao's commands to make a better China. Among them you will hear a Red Guard speak. You will hear Officers, and children of the Revolution. You will also hear Mao Ze-dong talk himself, to prove that his only intention was to make a better China. He will tell you that he did not intentionally take away the rights of the people of China. What he did do is create a new communist contry that was stronger than the China of before. He tried to bring equality to the people of China and help them become a new and Revolutionary china.

How To Annoy Someone In An Elevator
Elevators are a really interesting place. Have you ever wondered how annoying you can be in them? Well, I’m about to tell you.
If you think about it, there are many, many ways. I will try and tell you all the ones that I could think of. First is the easiest one of all. Just press all the buttons! The next person who walks in won’t be very happy. Now, don’t you hate it when, there is someone who is whistling a really annoying tune, and they won’t stop? They just go on and on and on… you have to be that person. Think of the most annoying tune you can and just whistle. If they ask you to stop whistle louder. I know it sounds mean, but if you want to annoy someone, you can’t care about that. Isn’t it irratating when there are stairs and people can go down perfectly but they don’t because they are all just so lazy?

Flex Day Feild Trip

Do you think the products being manufactured here help or hurt Bangladesh?

I think that the products being manufactured here in Bangladesh is helping the country. I think so because the main way they are getting money is by exporting garments to other countries. The garment industry is the biggest industry in Bangladesh. So overall I think that this is helping Bangladesh. One thing to consider is that, if the other countries stop importing garments from here then Bangladesh will be in trouble because there will be no one to buy their garments.
A question I had was, what were they doing to the jeans in the sampling room at the Up2Date office? I thought that the jeans were already finished when they came to the office. An observation that I made was that the people at the factory were wearing masks. I think it was a good thing because then when dust that is all around it won't make them sneeeze or let germs in. I also saw some people wear head caps. I asked my dad why they would wear them and he said so that their head stays clean. Two other reason are so that loose hairs don't fall into the garment and so that it doesn't get caught up in the machine.

Elliot's Expose

When Elliot writes about his experience with the Jock Rots and sends it out over the KidNet, he includes the following quote in his letter.

"I think people ought to realize that stuff like this goes on every day…The rest of you are all part of it-because you let it go on and maybe you think it's funny, or you think it only happens to geeky outsiders and kids who are smaller or fatter or skinnier or don't have so many friends or so much money as you. So tell me-what happens when you don't have so many friends one day, or you don't have so much money, or something bad happens to you?" (91-92)

Blog Question:
What is the message is he trying to get across to his classmates? (6pts)

Two Peer Responses (4 pts)]

Blog response
I think the message that Elliot is trying to get across to his classmates is that everyone is part of the bullying situation whether they think so or not. Most of the people are bystanders and they are the ones that can really do something to stop all the bullying. Its because they can all do something except they don't. He is also saying that they might be bullied one day, and that they could have been in the situation that the victim's are in right now. I think he's right and that putting out the Bully Lab letter was a really good idea.

Role Reversal

Blog response instructions:
• Answer the questions in complete sentences and use proper English (restrain from using MSN chat style of writing).
• Use evidence from the novel to support your answer and include page numbers.
• When commenting to your peers, be respectful in your language and about their responses. It is okay to disagree, but do it in a polite manner.

Blog Question: After the Bully Lab was renamed, the Revealers, and the stories of the three Darkland students were released and well received by the student body, Elliot wanted to publish Russell’s narrative about Richie punching Russell in the face.
1) Why was Russell so opposed to the idea (pg. 110)? Explain. (4 pts)
2) What is happening to the relationship between Russell and Richie. (3 pts)
3) Two Peer Comments (4 pts each)

1) Russell didn't want Elliot to publish his story about Richie because, when Burke and Blanchette started threatening him at the park (pg. 96-98) Richie Tucker came out and stood up for him and scared Burke and Blanchette away. If he did send it on the revealer than all of the students would know and I don't think that Russell wanted that to happen because then all the respect that he earned from Richie might disapear. Richie told Russell that it was okay to ask him questions if he wanted to. He also said if you stand up to people you can earn respect.

2) The relashonship between Russell and Richie is changing a lot. Now Richie has a little respect for Russel and doesn't treat him as bad. He stood up for him too. He also told him how everything works with him, (Richie talking) "You disrespect me, you pay. You piss me off, you get hurt. Okay?"(pg. 98).
